Antique French “Joyeux Noël” Postcard – Père Noël and Christ Child | Circa 1915
A touching antique French Christmas postcard featuring an Old-World Père Noël carrying the haloed Christ Child through a snow-covered village. The child looks through a window with hands folded in prayer while distant rooftops and softly falling snow complete the peaceful scene.
“Joyeux Noël,” meaning “Merry Christmas,” appears in elegant script along the bottom. The card is identified as H.H.i.W. Series 1206 and dates to approximately 1915.
The reverse contains an original handwritten Christmas greeting in blue ink:
“To Jacques and Yvonne, with best wishes for Christmas and the New Year from their little cousins, Rolf and Anna-Lisa.”
A charming pencil drawing—likely made by one of the children—also appears on the reverse, adding a wonderfully personal detail to this piece of family history.
