Antique French “Heureux Noël” Postcard – Hand-Tinted Girl with Flowers | Circa 1
A charming authentic French Christmas postcard dating to approximately 1907–1915. This hand-tinted photographic card features a young girl standing in a snowy woodland while holding two small flower arrangements accented with pink roses.
Her cream-colored winter coat is trimmed in soft fur and finished with delicate turquoise buttons, ribbons and bows. The rich sepia background and selectively applied colors give the postcard the romantic appearance associated with early-20th-century French photographic cards.
“Heureux Noël,” meaning “Merry Christmas,” appears in ornate lettering at the upper right. The picture side retains its original green French 5-centime Sower postage stamp and cancellation.
The reverse contains a handwritten message in purple ink reading “Bons baisers, Lucie”—“Kisses, Lucie”—and is addressed to a recipient in Montolieu, Aude, France.
A lovely original piece for collectors of antique French postcards, childhood imagery, postal history or authentic European Christmas ephemera. It would also make a beautiful seasonal display when carefully framed.
