Antique French Hand-Tinted Postcard – Lady in Rose Garden – Dated 1909

A beautiful French Belle Époque postcard featuring a gracefully posed young woman beside a garden waterfall. She wears a flowing pale gown accented with delicate gold details and is surrounded by hand-tinted pink roses, soft greenery, and romantic garden scenery.
The front bears an original handwritten inscription dated June 8, 1909, along with the N.P.A. publisher’s mark and series number 251.
The reverse is particularly special. Nearly the entire correspondence section is filled with a handwritten French poem titled “La Pensée”—“Thought.” Its verses contemplate dreams, freedom, love, work, sorrow, and the human spirit. The postcard is addressed to Mademoiselle Henriette Colombo in the Drôme region of France.
A wonderfully personal piece of French social history, ideal for a collection of antique ephemera, romantic photography, handwritten poetry, or Belle Époque imagery.

CONDITION
Good antique condition with expected evidence of its more than 115-year history. There is age-related discoloration, scattered foxing and spotting, softened corners, light edge wear, surface marks, and several visible creases—particularly near the corners and lower portion.
The handwriting and inscriptions are original. No postage stamp or postal cancellation is visible. Please review both photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
