Antique 1800s Shorebird Engraving – Framed Natural History Print

A beautiful meeting of antique history and modern presentation, this authentic antique natural history engraving features four wonderfully illustrated shorebirds identified on the plate as Parro, Sandpiper, Sanderling, and Dotterel.

The engraving dates to the 1800s and was acquired from an antique dealer specializing in American and French ephemera. The age of the engraving is represented to the best of my knowledge based on the information provided at the time of acquisition and my own research. As is often the case with antique book plates and engravings, the exact original publication and printing date may be difficult to confirm when the image is no longer accompanied by its original volume.

The engraving has been thoughtfully paired with a new, modern, quality gold-tone frame. The classic gold finish beautifully complements the warm, naturally aged tones of the antique paper while allowing this historic piece to blend easily into a modern or traditional home.

For preservation, I used acid-free backing and acid-free tape to carefully secure the engraving to an acid-free mat. My goal is always to preserve the integrity and character of antique paper whenever possible.

The frame is designed to be hung on the wall or displayed on an easel, making this a lovely addition to a gallery wall, library, study, cottage-inspired space, or curated nature collection.
